Road trip

1,970 miles left. 30 hours left. Longest day ever.

I guess I should say days, longest days.

kalob had finals. I was trying to slowly pack up the apartment. Lincoln had a fever as soon as we got back from California and it took him a weeks worth Tylenol and Advil switched off every 6 hours to finally get over whatever bug he picked up. And just when we thought he was on the mend....
Lincoln had a follow up appointment at the pediatricians, for his growth issues. Hardly any weight and height gain since 7 months. He is 20 lbs 3 ounces and 30.75 inches tall right now. He's a very picky eater still. His lab results were all normal 2 months ago, but he still hasn't made any progress. he went from being way above average, in the 90th percentiles until he was 6 months old and then his growth pace slowed dramatically, and now he is just 9th for weight and 21st for height. his curve is just a straight line now :/ and is concerning to his doctor so Lincoln had the misfortune of getting tested for Celiac disease, a hyperthyroid, and cystic fibrosis. all of this is scary for me. I hope it's nothing, he's happy and he's so smart. I can't help but think there is something we aren't doing right. Why won't he just eat! His pediatrician said most kids his age just take a couple bites-But those few bites give them the energy they need plus the goods to grow. and Lincoln obviously can't. so we need to figure out why. Not absorbing the nurtrients? food allergy? Not getting enough oxygen to grow? Not enough growth hormones? rapid metabolism? What is it!? Or is it really that he just likes nursing and is too stubborn to eat other things even though nursing can't give him everything he needs anymore. We are patiently waiting the results. he got a new toy car and sticker from the nurse, after they drew blood from each arm. his tears were like gallon droplets( well that's what it seemed to mommy watching) and that wasn't all. He had to get all his vaccinations before we could leave to nj. so he got 6 shots as well. it was probably the saddest day of his life thus far. maybe short of his circumcision, but I wouldn't know really, since I made his dad go to that.
he has bandaids all over, 2 on each leg and 1 on each arm, plus one in each inner elbow. I was crying along with him. we got some good snuggles in after that.
Then after that we had a lot of work to do before we could get on the road to nj. it took hours :/ at 8 we were finally all loaded. Now we are just cruising along. I'm wondering how far we will even get tonight. We are all super tired. our hotel better have the softest mattress ever!

I've been so busy, I haven't even taken any pictures of my sweet babe in days! Next time. I'll picture overload. Promise. I'll leave you with a picture of these two best buddies from last summer , who will be reunited soon!

Ten days

We went with kalob to ca this weekend. He only did a few jobs but that was okay, he was able to spend more time with his family before we head to New Jersey in ten days!! ten! The final count down has begun!
We ate at yummy restaurants in LA and went to a renaissance fair. we saw plenty of wench boobs and even two butts! I guess a renfair is an excuse for people with similar interests to meet up, so they dress to get noticed. hence a man in a loin cloth, with nothing on underneath. and a lady with a child's size princess costume on which only covered half her cheeks. It was amusing at least. We ate food that undoubtedly made all our stomachs ache. Lincoln went into the petting zoo, touched a goat! and then kalob got called in to work.
I went shoe shopping. summer sandals to hopefully trick Mother Nature into letting Utah have some sun! (Didn't work; it was snowing when we got home) I got one beautiful pair and I was so obviously in love, that my mother in law bought me a second pair in another color. So I think I'm well covered for summer. between the four of us girls (grandma, mother in law, sister in law, me) we have 6 pairs of those sandals haha! when you see them, you'll know why!
Lincoln loved playing with the family dogs. 2 Goldie doodle puppies and a retriever. He doesn't say people names but he can pick up on the pet names in a snap. He was saying Reggie and duke duke, all weekend.
Oh and I was able to go to my dress fitting for my cousin Kim's wedding since we were in LA. the dress turned out beautiful, can't wait to see it in navy!
we also met up for a little visit with our great friends. Ezra and Lincoln are so cute together, it's awesome that they are growing up side by side. Many adventures will be playing out this summer for these two.
I am getting so anxious to get movin to New Jersey. we have a lot to pack in ten days, the plans are adding up. going to logan this weekend to take our snow tires off and visit Grammie, my sister is coming over Friday to play hair, celebrating a friends birthday, Lincoln's getting shots, going to the children's museum with some friends we never see, and still finding time to go to the gym and pack up this place. Oh and did I mention , kalob has finals!!! stress, stress and more stress! ontop of it all, I'm planning to wean my lil monster. it will be some sad days ahead. he finally gained a pound so it can be done! it will make traveling so much easier, so it needs to happen!

It's starting

I just got my goodnight phone call from "thee old kalob!"{said in a long drawn out strange accent, kinda like a pirate and at yelling volume} that's his summer moniker, thanks to one of our strange yet loved managers.
it's started. The season has started. kalob was thrown to the lions tonight, first install for him this season, for the new company as well. there's a learning curve, you just have to jump in, see how it all works and then you're good to go and each install is faster and better than the last. He was telling me all the troubles he had and he was also training someone at the same time, which is added pressure.
my heart was just racing hearing how it was going "well how many were sold? How many went in? did they schedule out? Did you find time to eat anything today!?" This is what our pillow talk will be like through August.
I like to think of it as an install cloud and it is now upon us! Hopefully showering us with lots of jobs for happy customers, but it's definitely not always the case. I am so invested in our summer job, it is impossible not to be. It is life consuming! it's a whole nother world. if you are not part of it, you have no idea. I feel like I'm on the edge of my seat for months. its pretty much all we talk about during those months- you live and breathe it. if you're willing to uproot and move across country, you have to be in it to win it! I feel like if I wasn't 100% supportive of kalob, than it could potentially be super negative and depressing. I try to think of it as a blessing-we travel a lot, we are bonded through this experience, kalob is able to support us financially and go to school, we've built relationships with people we love, and we are young(!) if not now than probably never!
"you reap what you sow" has kind of been our motto, but we modernize it, saying" work hard, play hard".it is sweat and tears but its just 4 months and then its rest easy! all those techs who are in hot nasty closets, attics, and crawlspaces will agree with me!!! here's to an awesome season.

Life

we have just been busy playing. Lincoln is walking full speed ahead nonstop! we had our last day at Gymboree this week. I've been trying to take him to the park everyday for a little bit. getting some sun and getting all his wiggles out! he was babysat for the first time yesterday. for about 45 minutes! Molly said he never cried, she let him run around and play at this kiddie play area at our mall. he is a super climber now and will reach that little leg up to anything . he even thinks he can get his leg up and over the baby gate. silly baby, even I have a hard time trying to get over the baby gate!
I joined a gym recently and have been trying really hard to make it a routine. As much as I love my little man, I need something for me. I'm trying to make working out me time. though I don't love it, maybe I can learn to. kalob is off working this weekend and the next. We will be heading to ca with him next weekend. quick trip, but hopefully eventful!
oh yah, Easter happened. Lincoln looked adorable, we took him to the mall the day before, and there was No Easter bunny! so I was way disappointed! Maybe next year! his Grammie gave him a wiener dog hotdog cutter for Easter , he puts the hotdog pieces in his mouth and then spits them out. he also loved the Easter eggs. He thought they were awesome shakers at first, but then was twice has happy when he realized they had candy in them!

may 1st is coming up so quickly! I don't even want to think about packing !!

this morning I was in the other room; I came back to Lincoln sitting in his carseat. He must have thought I was getting ready to leave cuz he sure was ready- Toy story pajamas, binky, and all!
