I just got my goodnight phone call from "thee old kalob!"{said in a long drawn out strange accent, kinda like a pirate and at yelling volume} that's his summer moniker, thanks to one of our strange yet loved managers.
it's started. The season has started. kalob was thrown to the lions tonight, first install for him this season, for the new company as well. there's a learning curve, you just have to jump in, see how it all works and then you're good to go and each install is faster and better than the last. He was telling me all the troubles he had and he was also training someone at the same time, which is added pressure.
my heart was just racing hearing how it was going "well how many were sold? How many went in? did they schedule out? Did you find time to eat anything today!?" This is what our pillow talk will be like through August.
I like to think of it as an install cloud and it is now upon us! Hopefully showering us with lots of jobs for happy customers, but it's definitely not always the case. I am so invested in our summer job, it is impossible not to be. It is life consuming! it's a whole nother world. if you are not part of it, you have no idea. I feel like I'm on the edge of my seat for months. its pretty much all we talk about during those months- you live and breathe it. if you're willing to uproot and move across country, you have to be in it to win it! I feel like if I wasn't 100% supportive of kalob, than it could potentially be super negative and depressing. I try to think of it as a blessing-we travel a lot, we are bonded through this experience, kalob is able to support us financially and go to school, we've built relationships with people we love, and we are young(!) if not now than probably never!
"you reap what you sow" has kind of been our motto, but we modernize it, saying" work hard, play hard".it is sweat and tears but its just 4 months and then its rest easy! all those techs who are in hot nasty closets, attics, and crawlspaces will agree with me!!! here's to an awesome season.
Great attitude and perspective on it! I try to be that same way with Kyle's job. Hope it's a great season with lots of $$$ hehe
