d.c. round 3!

Third times a charm! truthfully Lincoln has been 3 times to D.C.
At 9weeks gestation when I had an emotional break down in front of the smithonian art museum, had heat exhaustion and dehydration with all the bonus nausea and aches and tiredness of being a teeny bit pregnant with Lincoln.
We returned for a second time last summer and took it easy only seeing a few things, I know it was sometime before 20 weeks because we didn't know if he was an actual HE yet.
I stood on the steps of the air and space museum and said " I really hope it's a boy, so I don't have to see all this boring boy stuff ever again!" And I was right! but now, I want to see all the boring boy stuff, as not to miss anything my lil guy sees for the first time. that's the miracle of parenthood I think. their goals then become your goals. Their successes, your successes. their joy, your joy.... Okay you get it.
Lincoln sat in grass today, for the first time. No blanket at the Washington monument. he was very apprehensive. how odd to not play on grass til 7 months old.
I picked for us to go through the holocaust museum. my very favorite part was after the bulk of all the information and pictures they have a small marble arena area meant for remembering and honoring. they have tons of tea light candles which you're supposed to light one for the person you were given as you entered, or for whoever you want. There was a peaceful yet intense feeling in that room, it brought me to tears.
we walked through Arlington cemetery. which was kalobs pick. We saw the Kennedy tomb and went to the unknown soldiers section. It's a very beautiful place. it's crazy how full of tourist and loved ones of soldiers are actually in the cemetery, and yet it's practically silent. you can pay to ride an open tram and hear all the cool trivia but we decided to trek it.
All and all it was a really nice and fun family trip.
These pictures were taken as we were leaving to go to D.C. we have plenty more on the computer. I just never get to them! but I will...hopefully

Little gym story

so just a funny story. At little gym, linc was practicing standing and walking on these double bars. One of the other moms comes over with her lil man. we will call him Carter for stories sake.
the mom starts going on and on about how gorgeous Lincoln is. She's calling him baby blue eyes and telling him she wants to kiss his cheeks and look at those lips! Perfect lips!
and at this point it was getting kind of awkward. i say thank you.
then she says " Carter's just a different kind of cute" in a dejected voice.
Awkward level sky rockets!!!- and I don't want to say oh no, Carter's adorable too or some thing weird like that...so after a long pause I just say "look at these two cuties, lil friends "
and then I got up and walk/rushed over to Becca and Ezra!
how sad for her, she has no googoo for my own baby filter. She actually doesn't think her own baby is the cutest in the world! :(

diapie wedgie

So Lincoln is teething and waking up a lot at night for extra cuddles.
He gets one change usually in the middle of the night and he usually dreams through it. well last night he was sleeping ultra light( due to the teething I think) so when I changed his diaper he was alert and squirming all over the place. he likes to roll and sleep on his belly. Rolling during changes makes diapering very difficult.
Anyways, so this morning, he was very restless and waking and putting his bum in the air. So I'd pat it and he'd lay back down and whimper and sleep a little longer til he did it again. And again...
when we got up for the day, I changed his lil butt and guess what! the poor kid's diaper was shifted and one side was completely in his crack! he was sticking his butt in the air trying to tell me he had a wedgie!

this is a cute picture and a funny picture. Perspective

6 months is almost over

Lincoln has grown by leaps and bounds during his 6th month of life.
- he learned to sit by himself, then pull himself up on the furniture.
-he started to crawl on Monday! And now he is non stop! During little gym he just took off right into his teachers lap during the goodbye song. I think he was saying All Eyes On Me!
-his favorite foods right now are tortilla soup and hey!Stacks( we call um) they are a weird dinner, I think they are Mormon food. but we actually had them 2 nights this week (at kalobs request). linc loves the chicken gravy with rice and pineapple. Lincoln only likes to eat human food while the rest of us are eating. He's learning to bite with those 2 new bottom teeth.
- He wants the family bed and the family dinners. Hes a family man!
-He loves music, favorite song is still the 90210 theme song! I have to mute it during naps or he wakes and whips his head toward the tv. Every time Without fail.
-He shakes his head no at us
-He purses his lips a lot of the time because he's teething.
-He is obsessed with water bottles. He likes a drink from the cap like a tiny cup, or from a straw, but he doesn't grasp the concept yet. he loves his sippy as well, but just to chew on.
- he loves to say da da. never mama. He is a daddy's boy right now, he cries when he leaves for work or if he gets out of bed or if he doesn't pick him up right when he walks through the door.

that's all for now! I can't even imagine what he will learn at 7 months.

Sleep training fail

I haven't been blogging because I have been a zombie. Seriously walking dead. we decided to get the babe out of our bed starting Saturday. it has been some of the saddest days of my life. I cried with him for 3 days straight. we moved his crib into the walk in closet in our bathroom ( since we are in a one bedroom apartment). We could easy control " the sun" in there and used a fan for white noise. We used a book called sleepyplanet as our guide. It all made good sense but I couldn't follow through. he was alone in a dark closet crying til he fell asleep, over an hour each nap and bedtime. The book said give it 5 days, I got to 3. It is torture. it felt so unnatural. he loves the family bed. And we were never actually losing sleep before! The kid sleeps 12 hours at night with us. Id say thats lucky. but the sleep training is so rigid i got about 4 hours a night. we were all so unhappy we said better luck next time. when we finally get to our Utah place, maybe we will try it out again. how do other moms do it?!?

BFF babies

Linc and Ezra have been doin so many fun things together since they were born. we visited Ezra when he was a week old. And we brought Lincoln to them when he was 2.5 weeks old haha buddies for life! they are finally interacting with each other. Babbling and starting spitting wars (blowing raspberries at eachother), they just want to grab at eachother and steal toys. The grass is always greener with these two.
We went to a second story time. the lorax never showed! but the kids did get to make-eat- finger puppets.
yesterday after little gym we ran to target and they were in seperate carts holding a conversation. a random lady even commented. funny boys. linc took a nap in the car and when we got home to get them out, Ezra was all smiles for being tricky and stealing some blanket! sneaky kid!
Today we went to this cool theater where they have booths with rolling computer chairs, where they play older movies and you order food. Lincoln saw Madagascar 3. and he was intent on watching, I thought he'd crash but he watched a good hours worth.

what are they going to do without eachother when the summer finally ends for us ! And next year is going to be crazier. We will be chasing around 2 1 year olds. looking forward to it already.

Many thank yous

so we are extending even longer! til November 1. But we are hoping they will let us out a couple days early! maybe be home for Halloween. I think it took us 3 days to get here. I'm hoping we will be able to go faster this time , if Lincoln can stand it. it's not too big of a deal if we miss it, he's not going to eat any candy. I can dress him all up nonetheless.
anyways, I wanted to say thank you to everyone who actually calculated how old (size) Lincoln would be in, in each season when they bought him clothes. since we are here longer than expected I've been wanting to buy a bunch of fall and winter clothes. BUT THEN, I got out his 6/9 month stack of outfits from the baby shower, and wha la! he is well prepared! what a blessing.
so thank you all! I'm going to be a better gift giver from now on.

Here's a picture of Lincoln at the fish pond at the duke gardens round two. he got to have some strawberry ice cream in the middle of the park too

Lincoln Loves daddy

These two are so cute together. they have this thing where they put there foreheads together. And then Eskimo kiss! Lincoln really rubs his nose back and forth.
one time Lincoln Eskimo kissed me and kalob was disappointed.
this morning Lincoln woke us up early on our day off and so kalob got ready and took him shopping at whole foods. I kept hearing how Lincoln could get him a date all the rest of the day. Chick magnet he is.
oh and don't mind the lack of sheets on our bed. Linc peed on them previous.

Growing before my eyes

Lincoln just sat up all by himself!! I started screaming at him and he was high fiving me. Then I put him back on his tummy to see if he'd do it again. just a lot of fartin! Oh my gosh! He did it again!!! right now as I blog! What a baby I have! He's amazing ( though all moms thinks there's is) he can crawl too when he wants to. And he stood up in his crib today.
I feel like he was never a new born, maybe for just one week. this kid is going to be a toddler by 7 months!

Linc has a tooth

he now can do damage! linc sprouted a tooth 2 days ago! bottom left front. This reminds me that I want to buy Lincoln the book " Doodle Bites" because I've quoted- Lincoln "woke up feeling very bitey!" several times now.
He also likes to play under blankets like a tent.
he also loves his new teether giraffes from Grammie. It was perfect timing. He was not great about sharing with Ezra when they came.
He is so giggly now a days. He especially loves when you whip your head around and say " Lincoln " like you're shocked.

Little gym

linc is working on his fitness. not really, more like his social skills and a little strength training. We go once a week for about an hour, and I love how worn out he is after.
we've played with:
Bubbles
Balls
parachute
Bells
Air mattress thing
balance beam
Drum sticks
Cheese mat
And other activities. he doesn't like arm stretches. He does enjoy all the clapping and seeing other kids.

More Disney Pics

they are in the wrong order right now til I can get on the computer. There are still more to come.
