we live in student housing. I cannot believe how long some of these families have lived here, some even 5 years. I want out as soon as I can! I don't want to live the struggling student life anymore!!! lately though, I've been doing my very best to make the most of it.
We've had this place for a lil over a year now, though we've only actually lived here about 8 months total. The day we moved in, I cried. I just couldn't picture this place being a home. I decided when we got back to this dank two bedroom 650 square foot cell block apartment, I was hanging curtains and pictures! I was getting our TV off the floor and forcing kalob to throw the moving boxes away(they'd been through 3 moves, and probably couldn't handle another) Not only because I want the boxes in the trash, but also because some of them have been half full in the corner of the living room for a year!!! Having the mentality of "oh well, we will be movin in another 6 months" isn't cutting it for me any longer. I need some light, I need to make this place a happy home. Who knows, maybe when kalob graduates, I'll be sad to leave it.
I've been trying to keep my decorating budget friendly too, which is hard to do. I Rediscovered some great things in our storage unit,( I've been collecting my future house decor in bits and pieces for 6 years now and it's all sitting in storage! It's really hard because we keep downsizing space but not downsizing stuff! And our family grew by a tiny person who also comes with a lot of stuff!) We found an awesome Ikea tv stand in their scratch and dent section. Guess what!? On Wednesdays, they give you an extra 25% off that section if you remember to ask! so from 199$ down to 114$ down to 89$ Sold!!! Who doesn't love a good deal! I've been looking at DI too! I found a neat lamp today. kalob said " the lamp really pulls it all together :)" thanks babe for that, I'm really trying! Also, a shelf/coat rack for just 3$. it's kinda fun thinking now I won't be so embarrassed to have company!
Each room is coming together slowly but surely. It's still a work in progress, but it makes living here so much more enjoyable!
Seeing it on here, i need to punch up my color palette! Don't mind the tree/sign not being centered... We have to push the couch all the way toward the window right now, because Lincoln likes to get stuck in between the couch and window. Our house faces the park, and all the neighbors can view our living room, hm hm, and us in our underwear when he plays in the blinds.
We took a black marker and filled in any scratches. I'm really happy with it. Of course it's filled with books and toys already! sure is nice knowing Lincoln can't get behind the tv and shake it anymore or push the off button when he's uninterested in your show :) he hasn't tried climbing it yet, and hopefully he Never does. yah right!
My honey do list! As you can see, there's a lot left on the list! There's an H next to more than half of those chores, don't worry! I do my share!
Cutest cowboy Ever! Had to throw a picture worth looking at in the mix :)
Anyways, not the most exciting post in the world. But it's exciting for me. more pictures to come.
